“Format: Paperback Verified Purchase After reading the success stories and how those people climbed the ladder to get to where they are, it’s encouraging. I really like how you listed the do’s and donts of networking, and highlight how important it is to prevent making your network “too transactional” as Elisabeth said. I’ve struggled with that in the past, because I wasn’t sure how to utilize my connections, or how to optimize my network. Now I’m in a transitional stage of my life where I’m going from being a college student to a working professional, where networking matters. The book is filled with great quotes and advice, along with the great stories. In particular, I like when Drew Sheinman said that “you have to be creative with whoever you want to be in front of.” That quote was enough to make me pull out my highlighter. Specifically because I am someone who went to school to be in creative work. After speaking with you, I immediately rushed to buy the book because I know how important making connections in my industry can be. Now that I’ve read it, it’s really given me that push to reach out to those who you want to be like and who could help you, because it’s not “embarrassing” or “doing too much” as some of my college friends would paint it. Right now I could use help more than ever, as my future becomes clouded by one job rejection after another. I’m still in awe as to how you’ve met enough amazing people to make an entire book on their experiences, but it’s been great. It gives me hope that maybe one day I could tell my story too. I’ve always believed in everything happening for a reason, and after being upset that my flight was delayed by an entire 4 hours that day, I couldn’t be more grateful at the opportunity to meet you.
