Richard Polak

“Richard Polak's Legend of the Ishkadees is an imaginative and heartfelt adventure that beautifully intertwines the wonder of childhood with the extraordinary power of love and hope. Set against the lush, mysterious jungles of Thailand, the story follows a family on a desperate quest to discover the legendary Ishkadees—elusive magical creatures believed to reveal themselves only to special children. As young Emet and his father, Phil, venture deeper into the unknown, their journey becomes far more than a search for mythical beings. It is a moving exploration of courage, sacrifice, family devotion, and the remarkable possibilities that emerge when we refuse to surrender hope. Polak balances the excitement of discovery with genuine emotional stakes, creating a story that speaks to both younger readers and adults. At its heart, Legend of the Ishkadees reminds us that sometimes the greatest magic is found not in what we can see, but in what we choose to believe. A charming, imaginative, and uplifting tale that celebrates the enduring bonds of family and the limitless wonder of childhood.”
